Expression of Interest (EoI) to Host The 9th World Sustainability Forum — China's Outlook

The WSF-CN Selection Committee seeks Expressions of Interest (EoI) from universities/institutions/individual scholars to host The 9th World Sustainability Forum --China's Outlook .

What is the WSF— CN?

The World Sustainability Forum is a conference series dedicated to bring together scientists and leaders from different areas to discuss important recent developments in sustainability studies.

In order to foster international academic communications and provide a platform for domestic scholars to discuss scientific research and share experiences, we plan to hold the The 9th World Sustainability Forum in China at the same time.

The World Sustainability Forum, founded by MDPI and the University of Basel in Switzerland, has been successfully held for eight sessions since 2011 and has a huge influence in Europe and even the world. The forum is dedicated to the development-oriented, interdisciplinary research related to policies in the fields of science and technology, life sciences and social sciences, and aims to provide researchers with a research platform on sustainable development issues.

The seventh conference in 2018, WSF 2018, was jointly hosted by MDPI, International Green Economy Association (IGEA) and University of International Business and Economics in Beijing, China. Ambassador Zukang Sha, Honorary Chairman of International Green Economy Association, served as the chairman of the conference. The number of participants on site reached 200.

The eighth meeting in 2020 will be held online due to the epidemic. The forum is chaired by five scholars from the University of Basel, the University of Geneva and the University of Freiburg. During the conference, four online live broadcasts and one poster display were set up, and a total of 385 submissions were received, with participants from 101 countries.

Please note that the follow-on editions will not be restrained to the topics discussed in previous editions and, therefore, new and different topics within the sustainability science field are sought.

Facts

Candidate institutions must provide arguments that they have the ability, facility, and capacity to organize and host a three-day symposium for 200–400 participants. This includes appropriate access to conference facilities, lodging, and transportation, as well as the ability to manage a range of supporting services (food services, internet services, and conference social events, etc.).

The candidate institutions and their local arrangements committee must have the means to support the costs of producing the conference through attendee registration, sponsoring, advertising and independent fundraising.

When necessary, and based on the input provided by the local host, MDPI staff will provide administrative support and will manage the website on Sciforum. MDPI staff will help to edit the abstracts, prepare the conference book, help to design the logos and banners for the conference website, flyers, posters, roll-ups, lanyards, conference bags, etc. following the style of previous WSF editions.

MDPI will promote the new conference edition on relevant MDPI journals and any other relevant communication channels.
